Background
Experience
Author of forthcoming book “Driving the Future: Combating Climate Change with Cleaner, Smarter Cars”
To be published by Arcade Press April 2015
Driving the Future explores the science and politics of climate change, provides an insider account of the partnership that led to the historic deal to increase US fuel economy to 54.5mpg by 2025 and reduce green house gas emissions by 50%, offers a dazzling preview of the cars of the cleaner, smarter cars of the future, and shares lessons learned for policymakers. It tackles the convergence of global macro trends beyond emissions that will drive future innovation, every bit as transformative as those wrought by Karl Benz and Henry Ford.

Summary
Margo Oge served the United States Environmental Protection Agency for more than 30 years from 1980 to September 2012. She is widely recognized as having been a key architect of the EPA's efforts to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
During her recent 18-year tenure as Director of the Office of Transportation and Air Quality, Ms. Oge led the EPA's first ever national greenhouse gas emission standards for cars and heavy-duty trucks to double fuel efficiency by 2025, reduce GHG emissions by 50% and save consumers $1.7 trillion at the pump. In parallel, she also helped to establish the renewable fuels standard, which will significantly increase the volume of biofuels in our nation's fuel supply. These new rules are viewed as some of the most significant steps forward in improving the sustainability of the U.S. transportation sector.
Ms. Oge earned her Master's Degree in Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. She also attended George Washington University and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
